THE DUKE’S HAND

My early plastic camera colour photography is a tribute to Duke Kahanamoku who visited Australia in 1914. He introduced stand up surfboard riding. Besides the sporting connection, he linked us with other ancient Polynesian cultural practices and philosophy including the mythology of ‘Huey’ the one who brings the waves.
